Helping children develop positive self-esteem and self-discipline.
Caring For Kids Behaviour Management Policy
Caring For Kids encourages non-aggressive behaviour. Our goal is to help children to develop a positive self-esteem in a safe and nurturing environment.
We are committed to developing a positive sense of self-worth in all children and encourage self-discipline, self-control, and respect for others and their property. Children are expected to demonstrate respect towards others and themselves, as well as take responsibility for their own actions.
Staff are directed to use a variety of discipline methods to help the children achieve self-discipline. Discipline is used in a positive, caring manner. Caring For Kids staff are trained to ensure they fully understand positive techniques to redirect children and help them to reach their fullest potential.
Parents are encouraged to discuss methods of discipline that work well so that we may provide consistency in redirecting your child's behaviour.
The following forms of discipline are NOT permitted:
- Corporal Punishment – spanking, striking directly or with object, shaking, throwing or other forms of aggressive contact.
- Harsh, humiliating, belittling or degrading responses whether verbal, emotional or physical.
- Restriction of the usual comforts i.e. shelter, clothing, bedding or food.
- Confinement in a lockable room or structure.
- Isolation or physical restraint.
NB: While on the premises, management, staff, visitors and parents are required to refrain from using these forms of discipline.
